PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

WHAT IS PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY?

Pediatric Dentistry is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years.

WHAT DENTAL PROBLEMS DO CHILDREN MAY FACE?

Often we tend to overlook our children’s oral health needs – after all, those aren’t their permanent teeth anyway, right?

What a lot of us fail to realize is that pediatric dental problems can lead to much bigger issues like infections, problems eating, speech development problems, problems with mental and social development.

So it is important to keep a watch on problems like

  • Teething problems

  • Malocclusion

  • Dental Decay

TEETHING PROBLEMS

At times, children may have issues with teething like early eruption of teeth or late eruption of teeth. Keeping an eye on their eruption helps to prevent problems in future.

MALOCCLUSION

Malocclusion is when teeth do not erupt at the right place further causing problems during biting. This can create problems with eating or speaking. Timely intervention prevents many problems of malocclusion in future.

DENTAL DECAY

Many children have the habit of drinking milk, sugary liquids from a bottle at night. When their teeth are constantly in contact with sugar from juice, formula, milk the bacteria in their mouth will feed on the sugar and grow, causing tooth decay. Kids tend to eat lot of sugary and sticky foods but not brush properly. This gives rise to dental decay. Pain, pus formation due to dental cavity is very common in children. Brushing properly twice daily, regular dental visits reduces the chances of dental cavity.
